Mauritius closed for December as Maldives opens for business

Mauritius’s borders will effectively remain closed for leisure travel during the peak December- January period, following its government’s decision to extend quarantine regulations until January 15, 2021. While the move is a blow to eager vacationers, the Maldives has opened with Priority Escapes running private, direct flights to numerous exclusive hotels.

The government of the Maldives has decided to lead the pack in opening its borders, and is working with resorts to make travel not only possible, but safe and thoroughly enjoyable.  Priority Escapes has secured some truly incredible deals at top resorts, with direct flights taking you from Johannesburg (O.R. Tambo) to the Maldives on Air Seychelles in under 9 hours during the month of December.

“It’s a trying time in travel, and so many South Africans are longing for a good beach holiday.  Closure of Mauritius’s borders has put countless travel plans on hold, but the Maldives now offers an enticing travel option without the concern of transit.
We are so excited about this venture, and look forward to establishing direct flights as a permanent and frequent new feature of the market, ensuring that our customers can get to paradise quickly and easily, any time they like.”
